Mathematics, a mental construction (the number two does not exist. It exists no more or less than the word/idea of ?love?), attempts to discover ways of describing the universe accurately so as to describe its structure through a qualitative, ?left brained? language.
What is the qualitative, ?right brain? method of describing the universe? Art, liturature, philosophy, etc. These fields describe the universe. Of course, both fields can recombine various elements of the universe in abstractions that do not actually exist, as in a graph of y=x2=9x or a painting. Both physical objects (visual pictures) do not actually physically exist as memes in themselves but are (maybe?) electromagnetic patterns that are recombinations of sensory data.
?What is the nature of such and such a social phenomena?? Ask the artists and the writers. Because the creation of artwork is by nature, a process of imperfectly duplicating gestalts (especially, in most art and literature, through the tinted lenses of human perception),
it cannot be precise in locating all factors that constitute a process/object. This top-down approach of course cannot recreate life perfectly because (for example) it is physically impossible to duplicate or even recognize certain elements of physical reality.
